The game will be decided in the fourth quarter

How do you go from a 43-16 victory to having to pull out a win in the fourth quarter? It’s simple: momentum and dropping your guard. The Seahawks clearly have the most momentum going into Week 15, but the 49ers picked up a nice win last week in a game where the offense was humming. I’m also afraid that the Seahawks will have a letdown game after the big win against the Vikings.

Against the Chris Harris-less Broncos, Mullens completed 20 of 33 pass attempts for 332 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. Undrafted rookie running back Jeff Wilson carried the load for the 49ers on the ground with 23 attempts for 90 yards. He was playing in place of the injured Matt Breida, who has been averaging 62 rushing yards per game this season.

And, of course, Kittle went off and had a monster game. The offense played well, and I expect they’ll be able to carry some of that success over into Week 15. Let’s not forget that Mullens is averaging 295.8 passing yards per game and that he put up 414 yards against the Seahawks in Week 13. The 49ers can move the ball.

Defensively I think the 49ers are suspect at best, but they played well against Denver and there are some playmakers on that unit. Last week the 49ers recorded two sacks, six tackles for losses, and ten quarterback hits. Don’t sleep on DeForest Buckner and the defensive line against Seattle’s bad pass blocking group, the 49ers will have shots to bring Wilson down often. I know he isn’t the same lockdown guy he once was, but do not overlook Sherman in the secondary either.

Perhaps the Seahawks are their own biggest threat this week though. After a big-time win against the Vikings and a four-game win streak, there’s a chance Seattle will sleep on the 3-10 49ers. That would be the worst possible scenario for the Seahawks. All they need to do is show up and take care of business like they did in Week 13. This should not be a hard game but the Seahawks have a bad habit of getting in their own way. If they come out flat-footed on Sunday, the game might come down to the wire.
