The New York Giants played one of their worst games of the 2018 season by dropping a 17-0 decision to the Tennessee Titans Sunday. Here is the brutal Big Blue report card.

So much for the New York Giants finishing at .500. Yikes. Big Blue played one of their worst games of a dismal 2018 campaign Sunday afternoon, dropping a 17-0 decision to the Tennessee Titans at rainy MetLife Stadium.

The setback dropped the G-Men to 5-9 on the year and eliminated them officially from the NFC playoff race.

Let’s take a look at a report card that no one would be proud of.

The G-Men were shut out for the first time since last season when the Cardinals blanked them, 23-0 on Dec. 24, 2017. Nothing went right in this debacle. Eli Manning (two turnovers) looked old and beaten down. The Giants were held to just 260 yards from scrimmage and dynamic halfback Saquon Barkley (14 carries for 31 yards) was totally held in check by an underrated Titans defense.

New York certainly missed Odell Beckham Jr. (quad) once again, but their offensive line was not able to sustain anything at the point of attack. They also allowed three sacks. A total disaster. Grade: F

Defense

The Giants knew going into the game that they had to corral halfback Derrick Henry and they failed miserably. The 2015 Heisman Trophy winner rambled for 170 yards and two touchdowns. He carried the ball 33 times and has now scored six touchdowns in his last two contests. It was a matter of ball control all game long for the Titans and the G-Men were not able to stop the powerful Henry from sustaining drives.

On the plus side, the Giants held Marcus Mariota to only 88 yards passing and Michael Thomas recorded a sack and seven total tackles. B.J. Goodson chipped in with a team-high nine tackles but the defensive unit simply received no help from New York’s putrid offensive unit. Grade: C-

Special Teams

Not much to talk about here. Aldrick Rosas, a potential Pro Bowl kicker, had no field goal attempts. Corey Coleman averaged 22.8 yards on four kick off returns while punter Riley Dixon had a down game by averaging 39.5 yards on six boots. Ho-hum. Grade: D
