7. Philadelphia Eagles (10-7)

Overview: It took the vast majority of the season for the defending Super Bowl champions to put together back-to-back victories. Now Doug Pederson’s team is on a four-game roll, the latest a 16-15 come-from-behind win over the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field in the NFC Wild Card Playoffs.

Quarterback Nick Foles saved his best for late and overcame a pair of early interceptions to drive his team to the go-ahead touchdown in the waning moment of the fourth quarter. The Eagles’ running game continues to be spotty and Pederson’s club is a bit one-dimensional. And Philadelphia’s secondary will have to play better than it did in the Windy City.

Postseason History: Dating back to 2017, the Birds have now won four consecutive postseason games — the longest streak in the proud history of the franchise. That means the Eagles’ lifetime playoff record now stands at 23-21. And last week’s one-point victory at Soldier Field “raised” Philadelphia’s postseason record to 7-12.

This Week’s Opponent: Dating back to 2006 and including a pair of playoff losses that season and in 2013, the Birds are just 2-6 in their last eight meetings with New Orleans. That includes a lopsided 48-7 setback earlier this year (Week 11) in which Payton’s team outgained the defending champions by an astounding 546-196 in total yardage.
