8. Dallas Cowboys (11-6)

Overview: The Cowboys may be the most uneven of the eight remaining in the NFL playoffs. At times, their defense has been superb but has also looked vulnerable on a few occasions. Running back Ezekiel Elliott has spearheaded a solid running game, but nonetheless the Dallas offense has disappeared on far too many occasions this year.

Quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver Amari Cooper have combined for some superb moments this season. Still, a team that lost five of its eight games has won three straight and is now on an 8-1 roll — the latest a 24-22 playoff victory over Seattle in which Jason Garrett’s club rolled up 380 total yards.

Postseason History: With last week’s 24-22 win over the Seahawks, the Cowboys raised their all-time postseason record to 35-27. That win total is the second-most by a team in NFL postseason annals next to the Pittsburgh Steelers (36). Now the club looks to reach the NFC Championship Game for the first time since 1995.

This Week’s Opponent: The Cowboys hosted the Rams in Week 4 of 2017 and Garrett’s club came up short, 35-30. This will be the ninth postseason clash between these two franchises, which would make this the most frequent match-up in NFL playoff history. And the clubs have split their previous eight postseason encounters (4-4).
