Round 2: Hakeem Butler, WR, Iowa State

Washington has put some serious stock in their wide receiver position — without much return on that investment. With Josh Doctson not living up to his draft status, and with Paul Richardson averaging less than three receptions a game in his seven appearances in 2018, they may need to continue investing in the position.

Here, they look for a new star in wideout Hakeem Butler from Iowa State. A 6-6 target, Butler can develop into the No. 1 target the Redskins desperately need.

While he’s known for his size and giant catch radius, Butler really excels after the catch according to Benjamin Solak of The Draft Network.

"“Surprisingly effective YAC player despite moderate change of direction ability and upright frame. Has some excellent lower body strength to drag would-be tacklers forward; thinner torso and hips absorb blows across the middle of the field surprisingly well. Cannot be addressed with arm tackles and often requires multiple secondary players to rally to the football. Excellent third down target because of willingness to fight for the line to gain.” — Solak, The Draft Network"

Butler broke out for the surprising Cyclones in 2018 as he pulled in 60 receptions for 1,318 yards and nine touchdowns. He’s still a work in progress, but has shown improvement every season he played for Iowa State.
