Round 1, Pick 3: Josh Allen, EDGE, Kentucky

Josh Allen entered his senior season at the University of Kentucky after deciding to stay in school following the 2017 season where he piled on seven sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss. That was a very wise decision. Allen’s draft stock skyrocketed after a monster year, piling on 17 sacks to his career tally of 14.5, giving him a total of 31.5 sacks for his career, and adding an additional 21.5 tackles for loss against SEC competition.

These gaudy numbers earned him five awards. These awards include the Nagurski and Bednari Awards, and the Ronnie Lott Trophy for the best defensive player in all of college football. Allen was also named a consensus All-American in 2018 and named SEC Defensive Player of the Year. These type of numbers and award display that Allen has what it takes to be an elite pass-rusher at the next level.

Measuring at a massive 6-5, 260 pounds, size is definitely not an issue for the 22-year old pass-rusher. Heading in the combine, Allen can only improve his draft stock, but it seems unlikely that he will jump the likes of Nick Bosa and Quinnen Williams, leaving him to fall into the hands of the Jets at the third overall pick.
