Denver Broncos: Joe Flacco

Coming off of a career year, a miraculous year with the Minnesota Vikings in 2017, Case Keenum signed a two-year, $36 million deal with the Denver Broncos with the hopes that he could provide the same level of play for them that he did for the Vikings. He did not play at the same level that he did in Minnesota the year before in 2018 for the Broncos, and now entering the last season of his contract, his future with the team remains uncertain.

If the Broncos were to cut bait with Keenum it would cost them some money to do so — $10 million in dead money before June 1, and $3 million after June 1. If Keenum were to be cut, it would be well after the draft and could possibly come around the time the team would report to camp.

The Broncos have been linked to Missouri’s Drew Lock, it would be a safe bet that they would prefer to bridge the gap and bide Lock a year to learn the ropes of the league and prevents him or any other possible rookie quarterback that could end up with the Broncos from being thrust into action right away.

Joe Flacco, with the big arm and Super Bowl experience, may be a potential suitor to land in Denver who will be looking to maximize their potential and the talent on the defensive side of the ball before their window slams shut.

In 2018, Flacco found himself on the bench as the Baltimore Ravens opted to stick with rookie Lamar Jackson after he filled in for the injured veteran and took the league by storm. After signing a massive contract extension, the then Super Bowl MVP has not lived up to the potential of the money guaranteed to him. A fresh start in a new city could revive Flacco and prolong his career a bit longer. That fresh start could be with John Elway and the Denver Broncos.
