4. They don’t get in on the Bell sweepstakes

Running back Le’Veon Bell is about to break the bank, but it won’t be with the New York Jets. Yes, he has been linked to the Jets but he’s also come out and said how much it will cost to lure him to New Jersey, and it’s an awful lot.

Bell responded to a comment from Jamal Adams about the free agent joining the Jets and he said it would take $100 million to him to head to the Jets.

"“Hey, go to the bank and get a hundred,” Bell said according to Darryl Slater of NJ.com. “I already talked to Jamal. Me and Jamal are cool. That’s my guy.”"

As good as Bell is, this is way too much money. The Pittsburgh Steelers proved in 2018 that a ground game can survive without Bell. While it’s true they missed the postseason, that had more to do with the issues between Ben Roethlisberger and his wide receivers than the drop off between Bell and James Conner.

Unless Bell suddenly realizes he won’t get quarterback money, expect the Jets to allow another franchise to pursue him. They have too many other needs to dedicate that kind of money to the most replaceable position in the game.
