Round 2: Trayvon Mullen, CB, Clemson

With free agent-to-be Bradley Roby reportedly expecting at least $10 million per year on his next deal, the former Ohio State star’s time with the Broncos appears to be all but over. This may be a position that gets addressed in free agency, but double-dipping with a prospect like Trayvon Mullen couldn’t hurt.

More from NFL Spin Zone

A junior for Clemson last season, Mullen saved one of his best games of the season for his last, a meeting with Alabama in the National Championship Game. In that contest, Mullen recorded a 46-yard return on an interception, six tackles, a sack and a forced fumble.

Mullen is a fringe first-round prospect who will likely be available in the early portions of the second round. He was a Second Team All-ACC pick in 2018, starting 14 of 15 games played for the national champion Tigers. Mullen posted 37 stops, four for loss, an interception and four pass breakups last season and would be another tool in Fangio’s arsenal.

Round 3: Jace Sternberger, TE, Texas A&M

Is Jeff Heuerman coming back? Can Jake Butt stay healthy? Who knows? Either way, the Broncos may opt to look for an extra weapon at tight end in this draft. Enter Jace Sternberger.

The son of two college athletes, Sternberger signed with Kansas out of high school, but only caught one pass for five yards as a redshirt freshman in 2016. After a stint at a small school, he became a consensus All-American at Texas A&M, a first-team All-SEC recipient, and the Aggies’ Offensive MVP last season.

He posted a 40 time of 4.75 seconds at the combine, and has solid, if not spectacular, athleticism for the position. He produces, though, which is something the Broncos haven’t always gotten from their tight ends. Sternberger totaled 48 receptions, 832 yards and 10 touchdowns in 13 games (12 starts) in his final collegiate season.
