2. San Francisco 49ers: Nick Bosa, EDGE, Ohio State

With the Arizona Cardinals going after Kyler Murray with the No. 1 pick, that leaves Nick Bosa on the board for the San Francisco 49ers. That would be an ideal thing for the Niners as the Ohio State defensive end is exactly what they need for their defense to show big improvements in 2019.

According to NFL.com, the 49ers were 28th in the NFL in points surrendered with 27.2, but they really weren’t terrible in yardage surrendered. They finished 11th in passing yards and 14th in rushing yards given up but just couldn’t keep teams out of the end zone when they got close.

Knowing their defense is that close, a premier edge rusher could make all the difference. Bosa is the kind of guy who can force the ball out of a quarterback’s hands quickly as they have to worry about him every single snap. He’s going to be a high-volume sack guy, just like his big brother Joey Bosa of the Los Angeles Chargers, but his worth will be felt far beyond the stat sheets.

Having said all that, the real factor for their success in 2019 will be the health of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. He missed the majority of this past year with a torn ACL, which doomed their season before it really got rolling. Should he be back to 100 percent, the Niners could be someone to watch in the NFC West.
