Randall Cobb, WR

Robby Anderson enters free agency as a restricted free agent of the Jets, receiving a second round tender on Thursday. This means that if a team signs him they will forfeit that pick next year, while if he signs his tender, Anderson will return one a one-year deal worth about $3 million.

While Anderson’s future with the team remains uncertain, another free agent’s future is clear in Jermaine Kearse as it is highly unlikely that he will return to the Big Apple in the gang green uniforms. With the impending free agency of two of the Jets’ leading receivers, they must be in the market for at least one on the open market.

While names such as Tyrell Williams are expected to draw a massive payday on their next deal at the wide receiver position, one team that may can be pursued at a discounted cost could be long-time Packer Randall Cobb. Nearing 30 and seeing his production take a bit of a dip, Cobb should see his compensation take a similar drop as well.

While the Jets have the ammunition to chase down bigger names and younger prospects once free agency opens next week, the best bang for their buck could come with Cobb. He would bring a veteran’s presence to the New York locker room and provide a solid, safe target for Sam Darnold in the passing game; if the Jets want to fleece the clearance rack at the wide receiver position, Cobb could be their guy.
