Round 4, Pick 124: Khalen Saunders, DT, Western Illinois

Outside of the D.K. Metcalfs and Kyler Murrays of the class, Khalen Saunders remains one of the more polarizing and feel good stories of the 2019 NFL Draft. From the viral videos of the backflips, to remaining at the Senior Bowl as his child was being born in order to hope to achieve a better future for that child, it is not hard to root for the defensive tackle from Western Illinois.

Saunders capitalized on his momentum from the Senior Bowl and produced solid numbers at the combine last weekend. Even though he weighed in at the 88th percentile of all defensive tackles at the combine, Saunders still managed to run his 40-yard dash in nearly five seconds flat, ranking him in the top 70 percent of his position group.

He then took the field during the positional drills and displayed great hand usage and lateral quickness. While he is from a small school, do not count Saunders out as a player who can become a solid contributor at the next level.

Already putting so much work to his name, Saunders will rejoice to hear his name called early on in day-three of the NFL draft, and it would not be a shock to see him plucked at the end of the third round by the time we are all said and done. Seahawks add depth to the interior of their defensive line and make Saunders their selection with the 124th overall pick.
