2. CB Marcus Williams (Chicago Bears)

He was the team’s first-round draft choice one year after the team’s Super Bowl season of 2013. And he was a big part of the club’s championship campaign of 2015. Former Ohio state cornerback Bradley Roby joined a loaded secondary that included talented cornerbacks such as Aqib Talib, Chris Harris Jr. and safeties Darian Stewart and T.J. Ward. The “No Fly Zone” was a pivotal part of the team’s Super Bowl 50 championship campaign.

Now Harris is the only remaining player with the club as Roby has joined the Houston Texans. The Broncos signed versatile Kareem Jackson this week and he could wind up just about anywhere in the secondary.

Journeyman cornerback Marcus Williams has bounced around the league in a very brief time. When Chicago Bears standout Bryce Callahan went down late in December and was placed on injured reserve, Williams got the call and was with the club for the final three regular-season games and the playoff matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles — although he did not play against the Birds. It’s not much but at least there is at least some familiarity with both Vic Fangio and secondary coach Ed Donatell.

Keep in mind that the focus here is on bargains. And Williams could be a safe pickup. Along with Roby’s departure, cornerbacks Jamar Taylor and Tramaine Brock will be entering this year’s free-agent pool. So a little insurance certainly wouldn’t hurt.
