Round 3, Pick 90: Joe Giles-Harris, LB, Duke

The Colts seem to have found them selves a true stud in Darius Leonard in last year’s draft. However, the Colts still need to find someone to play along side him long term.

Linebacker isn’t the biggest need here, but Joe Giles-Harris is best player available for the Colts. Leonard excelled as the weak side linebacker for the Colts in 2018, which means Giles-Harris would fill in perfectly as the middle linebacker alongside Leonard.

Giles-Harris was a starter as a redshirt freshman for the Blue Devils and continued as the starter for his entire career, except for when injuries struck him late in his junior year. During his freshman and sophomore year, Giles-Harris totaled over 100 tackles each year. He also totaled over 32 tackles for a loss as a starter in his three years as a Blue Devil. Giles-Harris also showed his ability to get to the quarterback, finishing his career with eight and a half sacks.

Giles-Harris is a very smart football player and can break down plays very well. This makes him an excellent run stopper as he can effectively get to the correct hole. He is also a very good pass defender and can play zone defense well. Giles-Harris could be a day one starter and be a staple of the Colts defense for many years to come alongside Leonard.
