Round 4, Pick 105: Tytus Howard, OT, Alabama State

The offensive line in New York is so bad that it would be a great idea for the Jets to take two offensive lineman in the first four rounds in the upcoming draft. Here, they add Alabama State’s Tytus Howard, who has gathered quite a bit of steam lately. In fact, some believe that he could be a Day 2 selection and not even make it past the third round. But in this simulation, the Jets were able to get him with the 105th overall pick.

While Howard is not the biggest or longest offensive lineman in his class, he has the hand size and speed to beat opposing defenders to the edge and wall them off. Howard used a strong senior season to earn an invitation to the Senior Bowl in Mobile, where he had a strong showing. He then received the golden ticket to the combine, where he tested around the middle of the pack athletically, but thrived on the field.

Looking fluid in his positional drills, Howard showed off his footwork to NFL scouts and general managers to show them that he can be molded into a quality starting offensive tackle at the next level. With a desperate need along the offensive line, if Howard is on the board at this point in the draft, the Jets have to take him and get him on the first flight to New York.
