Nagy’s offense is predicated on excitement. It uses a lot of passing and a lot of yards at a time. It is nothing like the “three yards and a cloud of dust” offense we usually see in a Chicago Bears offense. This is part of the reason Howard is expendable.

At the NFL Combine Nagy talked about the type of running back that fits his system, per the Chicago Tribune:

"In this offense, you want to be able to have a guy that has really good vision that can make guys miss. And at the same time, there’s that balance of being a hybrid, being able to make things happen in the pass game, too, but yet to where you’re not one-dimensional."

If you’re looking for big plays you don’t have to look any further than Darrell Henderson out of Memphis. He is a dynamic player. He is an explosive runner, and that helps him both blowing past the line of scrimmage and going out for a pass and gaining YAC, or yards after catch.

Henderson had incredible numbers at Memphis. For his career, he averaged 8.2 yards per rush and scored 36 rushing touchdowns. He averaged 12.0 yards per catch and had eight touchdown catches. He was a big part of the high-powered Tigers offense.

The Bears want a shifty, speedy back? Well, Henderson’s best ability is his balance. he can stop and go with ease, jump over defenders, and keeps churning his legs to stay up. They want speed? Well, Henderson ran a 4.49-second 40-yard dash at the Combine. Once he gets away from the defenders he shifts into another gear and creates separation.

Speed is something the Bears want. They had speedy receivers in Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel, and Anthony Miller. Then you add Cohen. Now, in 2019, they add Patterson, Hall, and Davis. Henderson fits right in.

The Bears probably use Davis and Henderson together. Add Tarik Cohen and Patterson as gadget backs and you have an incredible backfield that can do just about anything. Additionally, it gives Nagy the flexibility to call different plays and opens up the field for quarterback Mitch Trubisky to decide where to throw. Opposing defenses will be off-balance.
