Head coach Sean McDermott will have quite the veteran 1-2 punch in their backfield this upcoming year. Veteran LeSean McCoy has spent the last four seasons in Orchard Park. The 10-year pro has racked up a combined 14,222 yards from scrimmage and 84 total touchdowns during his days in Philadelphia and Buffalo.

But that somewhat pales in comparison to the team’s latest addition at the position. Only Pro Football Hall of Famers Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders and Walter Payton have amassed more yards on the ground than running back Frank Gore. He’s rolled up 18,544 yards from scrimmage and 95 touchdowns in his days with the 49ers, Colts and Dolphins.

The staying power of the 14-year performer has been simply incredible. He has been one of the league’s most consistent performers for more than a decade. And seemingly when someone want to write off his impact, he comes up big. In 14 games this past season with Miami, he led the club with 722 yards on the ground on 156 carries before going down late in the year with a foot injury.

The Bills recently cut loose Chris Ivory. But versatile Ty Montgomery remains on the open market. He could help Buffalo’s offense in a variety of ways and will give McDermott’s team an infusion of youth at the position.
