It doesn’t seem that long ago that the Buffalo Bills featured an extremely talented front four with Marcell Dareus and Kyle Williams up the middle, flanked by Mario Williams and Jerry Hughes at the ends. With the exception of Hughes, the others have moved on one way or another, be it their choice or not. And one recently opted for retirement.

Such is the case of the latter when it came to defensive tackle Kyle Williams as 2018 marked his final season with the franchise after 13 years and six Pro Bowl invitations.

A year ago, general manager Brandon Beane added a pair of capable bodies to this unit via interior presence Star Lotulelei and end Trent Murphy. The latter came up with four sacks in his first season in Orchard Park while Lotulelei, a first-round selection of the Carolina Panthers in 2013 who played under current Bills’ head coach Sean McDermott, played and started all 16 games this past season. But this is a team that still has issues against the run,  despite showing some improvement in this area in 2018.

Well-traveled Kyle Love joined the Panthers in 2014 and McDermott is more than familiar with the journeyman defensive tackle. In a reserve role the last four seasons, he’s played in 57 games, made six starts and accumulated nine sacks. He’s also a very solid run defender and could prove to be a big asset to the Bills defense.
