Round 2, Pick 35: Amani Oruwariye, CB, Penn State

We move back to the defensive side of the ball here as the Raiders grab fast developing Gareon Conley a partner in crime for years to come in the form of Penn State’s Amani Oruwariye. In a cornerback class that is drowning and looking much worse than originally thought, Oruwariye remains a constant prospect and is considered a fringe first rounder or early day-two pick.

Measuring at nearly 6-2 and 205 pounds, Oruwariye has the build to become a lockdown man-to-man cornerback at the next level, and while he did not test off of the charts at the combine in Indianapolis, he put up solid numbers and did nothing to hurt his stock; other cornerbacks in this class such as Deandre Baker and Greedy Williams cannot say the same.

Entering the free agency period, the Raiders had half of a solid secondary with the previously mentioned Conley and former first rounder Karl Joseph. In free agency, Oakland also signed for Los Angeles Rams’ safety Lamarcus Joyner, giving them the look of a formidable no-fly zone. Adding Oruwariye would give the Raiders all of the potential in the league at every spot of their secondary and gives Oakland a solid looking defense on paper.
