It wasn’t for a lack of trying. Back in 2015, the Cincinnati Bengals were preparing for the future when it came to their offensive line. The franchises used their first two picks in the draft that year to add tackles Cedric Ogbuehi (Texas A&M) and Jake Fisher (Oregon). With veteran left tackle Andrew Whitworth in the latter years of his career and a question mark on the right side, the selections made perfect sense.

But it wasn’t meant to be. Neither player emerged as a reliable performer. This offseason, Ogbuehi signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Fisher, who was slowly transformed into a blocking tight end, is a member of the Buffalo Bills. Last offseason, the Bengals traded for Cordy Glenn to take over on left side. Last season, one-time New York Giants’ blocker Bobby Hart was a 16-game starter on the right side.

But with Ogbuehi and Fisher now both elsewhere, the team could use some depth on the offensive line in general. Earlier this year, the Jaguars did a little house-cleaning in terms of their roster and one of the more notable cuts was tackle Jermey Parnell.

The eight-year pro started at least 13 games in each of his four seasons in Jacksonville and would be a nice addition for a club that could address the offensive line during the draft, but could certainly use some proven talent as well.
