3. RB LeGarrette Blount (Detroit Lions)

As the 2018 season wore on, the running game of the Indianapolis Colts became more and more of a factor. It was a big reason quarterback Andrew Luck enjoyed the success that he did. That and the fact that his arm strength slowly but certainly surely returned as the year unfolded.

More from NFL Spin Zone

Frank Reich’s team totaled only 372 yards on the ground in their first five outings of the season, an average of only 74.4 yards per game. But the club pounded out 122.4 rushing yards per contest in their final 11 regular-season games and then gashed the Houston Texans for 200 yards on the ground in their playoff win.

Marlon Mack ran for 908 yards and nine scores in his second NFL season. And the Colts’ rebuilt offensive line, featuring rookies Quenton Nelson and Braden Smith, was also a major factor in the emergence of the running game.

This past year, rookies Jordan Wilkins (336) and Nyheim Hines (314) teamed for 650 rushing yards and three scores (Hines also ranked third on the club with 63 receptions). But could the Colts bring in a plow horse like LeGarrette Blount, who Reich utilized in Philadelphia in 2017, as one more option when it comes to the tough yards and the goal line?

The nine-year pro and three-time Super Bowl champion, who spent 2018 with the Detroit Lions, could make for quite the closer.
