3. Dalton Risner, OT, Kansas State

Dalton Risner is among the top guys at the offensive tackle position in the 2019 NFL Draft class, but he’s considered a step down from guys like Jawaan Taylor and Jonah Williams. Right tackle isn’t the team’s biggest need, and they still have another year before they have to move on from Bryan Bulaga.

More from NFL Spin Zone

Why draft a guy that’s going to sit on the bench for a year before he ever does anything? It’s because the best teams are always planning ahead.

Risner started multiple years at Kansas State and he got better every year. He was one of the leaders on the offensive line and he would be a great fit for Green Bay as they look to move toward a more balanced ground and pound based offense. He finishes his blocks with authority. He’s a great example of a guy that may not do any one thing overly great, but he does all the little things that will make him a great pro at the next level.

Risner can use this year of development behind Bulaga and Billy Turner to sharpen his skills to where he doesn’t miss a beat when he steps onto the field in Year 2. He also can push Bulaga to be better on the outside, although he’s already been one of the best right tackles in football when healthy.

If they don’t find an elite prospect they’re in love with at 30th overall, Risner would be a great option for them, especially since they’re already looking at taking a tackle early.
