With the 2019 regular season schedule released, the New Orleans Saints know who they’re facing, but which game is the most exciting affair?

The 2019 NFL regular season schedule has been released, and so comes the excitement for every fanbase. Excluding their division rivals, there is a certain level of hype depending on which teams are on a given schedule. For the New Orleans Saints, their schedule seems to be pretty moderate when it comes to their opponents, but a few stand out.

With so much hype around the Saints and a possible Super Bowl run, we’re ready for kickoff. In particular, three matchups are worth noting. Two of matchups are within two weeks of each other while the other comes towards the end of the regular season.

Starting off with the least-hyped off the three aforementioned contests is the Thanksgiving Day game. Identical to last year’s setup, the Saints will head to Atlanta to take on the Falcons. Last year, the Saints won that matchup, 31-17. The Saints were heavily favored and, despite a few missteps, were able to pull out the win. Most notably, it was a huge game for Drew Brees and another win to keep their streak alive.

A Thanksgiving game is always going to get more attention. If anything, this could be a new tradition for the NFL. Maybe the Saints and Falcons will face off every year from now on. This game will also mark their second meeting of the season and give the Saints a chance to pull forward in the NFC South. While this might not be getting as much attention as other matchups, it’s still an important one.

The next two matchups are going to be deal-breakers for the Saints. First is their Sept. 29 meeting with the Dallas Cowboys. They faced off against Dallas last year, but lost 13-10 in that matchup in one of the most disappointing games of the season for Saints fans. The Cowboys snapped their winning streak and the game was just bad for the team. Regardless, it makes their 2019 matchup all the more exciting.

For the Saints, it’s their chance for revenge and to show they’re the better team. Both teams have talented rosters and want to make a playoff push. Even though it’s an early-season game, it could determine their fates, setting the tone for the year. This game is a can’t-miss for fans of either team.

Atop the list of most exciting games, though, comes in Week 2 as the Saints will face off against the Los Angeles Rams. Everyone remembers the blown pass interference call and the “what ifs?” during the now-infamous NFC Championship Game. Heading into the regular season, this matchup is easily the most anticipated for New Orleans. Even their meeting during the 2018 regular season didn’t disappoint as the game was a constant back-and-forth to stay on top.

As for this Week 2 meeting in the 2019 season, the Saints want to prove that they’re better than the Rams and deserved to be in the Super Bowl. For them, it’s a chance to finally put the past behind them and show that they’re the stronger team.

Overall, the Saints’ schedule is pretty middle-of-the-road in regards to difficulty. They will have some easy wins but also a few hurdles along the way. As long as their level of play doesn’t drop off, then the Saints could be looking at another successful year. Of all the game,s though, the Saints-Rams matchup in Week 2 is one you won’t want to miss.
