Round 4: Lamont Gaillard, C, Georgia

Jacksonville selects a true center in the fourth round. They pick Lamont Gaillard of Georgia. This gives additional options for the offensive line. Brandon Linder is the Jaguars starting center when healthy. However, Linder was drafted as a guard and played it through his rookie season. He moved to center the following season.

Gaillard gives the team the luxury of moving Linder to right guard. This move would give the Jaguars three starters to rotate at the guard position. Also, Linder could be Gaillard’s backup. Quality roster depth helps guard against a talent drop-off due to injuries. Jacksonville had a multitude of injuries to the offensive line last season. Gaillard is a welcomed addition to the team.

Gaillard stands 6-3, weighing 305 pounds. He was a team captain for Georgia. His specialty matches the Jaguars mentality with Doug Marrone. His ability is described by to Zierlein of NFL.com in the following words:

"Three-year starter and team captain whose tenacity and dirt-dog mentality typifies the Georgia offensive line over the last couple of years. … may be best suited in a power-based run scheme…"

Jacksonville loves the tough lineman that plays from snap to whistle. They found their man in Gaillard. He will not disappoint them.
