Trade! Washington Redskins trade No. 15, No. 46 and 2020 first-round pick to New York Jets for No. 3

3. Washington Redskins (via Jets): Dwayne Haskins, QB, Ohio State

Dan Snyder has gone rogue, it seems. According to Grant Paulsen of NBC Sports Washington and The Athletic, the eccentric Washington Redskins owner has “taken over” the first round of the 2019 draft and is set to do something drastic. Combined with other reports that the Redskins could be looking to trade up for a quarterback, that’s what they do, paying a hefty price to jump into the top three and take Dwayne Haskins.

Though there’s only one year of tape with Haskins as the starter at Ohio State, that tape is impressive. He got noticeably better as the year went on and clearly has the arm talent and accuracy to make any throw. Haskins needs to develop more polish with his footwork and composure under pressure at times, but the tools are there for him to be the guy for Washington. Let’s just hope this doesn’t turn out like the last time Washington bet the farm to trade up for a quarterback.

4. Oakland Raiders: Quinnen Williams, DT, Alabama

With the way that the first three picks in this mock draft fall, it’s hard to say what the Oakland Raiders are going to do with their first of a trio of first-round picks. Sitting at No. 4, they need an edge rusher in a bad way, but that would mean perhaps passing on the best player in the draft. They can’t do that in their talent-hungry position as a franchise right now, so they take Quinnen Williams.

Despite drafting both Maurice Hurst and P.J. Hall last year at defensive tackle, Williams is the type of player that makes that not matter. He burst onto the scene at Alabama this past season as a physical force, able to simply overwhelm interior offensive linemen at will with speed and explosiveness to get after the passer and affect almost every play. The Raiders need that type of presence and, even if it’s not a glaring position of need, Williams is too great of a talent to pass up.
