2019 NFL Draft: Grades for every first-round pick
2. San Francisco 49ers: Nick Bosa, EDGE, Ohio State
Grade: A
In what always felt like an obvious pick, the San Francisco 49ers took Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa with the second overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft. Bosa was considered by many to be the top overall prospect in this draft class and should be an immediate star on the defensive side of the ball in San Francisco.

- Dallas Cowboys made the trade everyone else should have made

The 49ers have loaded up on defensive linemen in the draft in recent years and currently sit with a handful of strong pieces on the interior. However, there has still been an obvious need on the edge and the 49ers have filled it with a bullet this offseason. First, they traded for Dee Ford, and now, they bring Bosa into the mix.
Bosa is one of the safest prospects in the 2019 NFL Draft, showing an ideal combination of size, power and athleticism on the edge that allows him to create havoc against the run and in the pass rush. He shows fantastic technique up front using his strong hands and long arms extremely well, and consistently creates leverage with proper pad level.
In the pass rush, Bosa showcases an extremely quick first step leading to fantastic upfield burst. He shows the ability to create pressure both with speed and bend around the edge and with power in the bull rush. He is also a tremendous run defender who sets the edge well and has the explosiveness to make plays in the backfield.
Nick Bosa is a ready-made NFL edge defender who also possesses major upside. Slam dunk pick for the 49ers.
