Round 1, Pick 15: Dwayne Haskins, QB, Ohio State
This was an amazing pick. It was the obvious decision, but one that you didn’t think this team would get to make. It was almost a certainty that, if the Washington Redskins wanted quarterback Dwayne Haskins from Ohio State, they would have to trade up to grab him.

Instead, the New York Giants took quarterback Daniel Jones from Duke at No. 6. Then teams like the Miami Dolphins (who ended up trading for Josh Rosen later in the draft) and Cincinnati Bengals ended up passing on quarterbacks all-together in the first round. This led to Haskins falling to Washington at No. 15.
Kyler Murray is a monster, but I had Haskins as the best quarterback in this draft. Somehow the Redskins got him without having to give anything up. It remains to be seen if Haskins is the starting quarterback for Week 1. Either way, though, this definitely accelerates the rebuild for Washington. They now have their franchise quarterback.
Haskins has all the arm talent in the world and is someone who can make the players around him better. The Redskins have some question marks about the weapons around him, but they addressed some of that later in the draft. Washington hasn’t had the best of luck at drafting quarterbacks in the past few decades. However, that can’t stop you from getting excited about this one.
Looking back in a few years, getting Dwayne Haskins at No. 15 could wind up being one of the best selections in the entire draft. People will likely be wondering how teams let him fall all the way down there. Washington finally has a reason to get excited again thanks to this pick right here.
Final Grade: A+
