3. WR Zach Pascal

Zach Pascal had a decent rookie season last year, despite being the team’s fourth or fifth receiving option. He’s not a big down the field guy, but he’s solid enough in the short to intermediate range. He caught 27 passes for 268 yards and two touchdowns. He had a decent year, but he’s going to run into the issue of other players on the roster taking up snaps that are better receivers than he is.

Indianapolis drafted Parris Campbell in the third round, and they’re getting Deon Cain back from a torn ACL. That puts Pascal as the fifth receiver on the depth chart. The team also brought in Devin Funchess from the Carolina Panthers this offseason. The team carried six wide receivers last year and they’ve brought in multiple free agents this offseason to battle for roster spots at the back end of the depth chart.

Pascal doesn’t present any particularly outstanding athletic traits and he doesn’t do any single thing as a receiver at a great level. Without a lack of a particularly elite trait, it’s going to be tough for him to maintain his roster spot unless some of the other free agents aren’t able to overtake him. You want to have multiple flavors of wide receiver and the Colts already have Pascal’s flavor.
