2. LB Skai Moore

The Colts drafted Darius Leonard to be their freak athletic middle linebacker last year, and they doubled down on athletic inside linebackers when they grabbed Bobby Okereke out of Stanford this year. Anthony Walker and another rookie draft pick, Gerri Green, should have their spots locked up.

That leaves Skai Moore all out in the cold. Moore is going into just his second season, but he made barely any mark on the field last year to require bringing him back.

Moore played in nine games last year, but he only recorded four tackles. Tackles are hard to come by when you have Leonard flying around the field and taking up a lead-leading 163 total tackles. Still, you need to make an impact when you’re on the field and he just didn’t.

As bad as he was as a run defender, he was even worse in pass coverage. Among all linebackers that suited up last year, there were only nine players that graded out worse than he did in coverage, per Pro Football Focus (subscription required).

Inside linebackers are a dying breed with less and less importance on the position each year, and the Colts have been aggressive to give themselves multiple good players at the top of the position which allows them to keep fewer players at that spot. With skill position and trench players likely to soak up a lot of roster spots, Moore could very easily get squeezed out.
