After just a little while spent as a Chicago Bears player, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix already feels at home already, calling the locker room a special place.

The Chicago Bears surprised many by signing safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. More surprising was the contract they signed him to — just a one year, $3 million deal. They allowed former Bears safety Adrian Amos to walk and ended up with an upgrade. Clinton-Dix was considered one of the top safeties in free agency and getting him signed at a bargain rate was a coup for general manager Ryan Pace.

Of course, the problem with signing Clinton-Dix to a favorable contract now means his price will skyrocket if he has a good season with the Bears. Considering how great the defense was in 2018, adding Clinton-Dix to the mix gives Chicago a very good chance at having another dominant season. Along with that, Clinton-Dix will enjoy his time and cash out.

Pairing ball hawk Clinton-Dix (14 interceptions in 80 games) with ball hawk and former college teammate Eddie Jackson (eight interceptions in 30 games) gives the Bears an incredible safety tandem that will be fun to watch. It will be difficult to throw on the Bears’ secondary and Clinton-Dix will be a big part of that.

As I mentioned, Clinton-Dix is a former college teammate of Jackson. Their friendship had to be at least a small part of the reason he came to Chicago. Another reason, however, could be how close the team was in 2018. It was evident in how they played on the field as well as how they interacted in the locker room. Now, he got a chance to see the atmosphere among players and coaches at Halas Hall himself.

After just a short while in the Chicago Bears’ locker room, Clinton-Dix already feels how special things are in there, per NBC Sports Chicago:

"In the locker room there are so many great guys who are down to earth and funny. They all have the same passion and want to win ball games. Everybody here is so humble. The work ethic is unbelievable between the guys. Coach Nagy has always spoken about being you. That’s what I’m doing now… (They) have something special going on here."

Seeing how special and fun the locker room is, and having a great 2019 season playing in this dominant defense, perhaps Clinton-Dix gives the Bears a hometown discount? That would be a win-win for everyone. He could continue to contribute to a great defense and become a legend.

That is a big if. So far, however, it’s a good start. He feels the great vibe on the team and could feel his career success hinges on him staying in Chicago. If he does, the Chicago Bears defense could be a special one for years to come.
