4. Jamaal Williams

Although his teammate Aaron Jones may get all the headlines, running back Jamaal Williams serves his purpose well in the Packers’ offense. Williams isn’t spectacular at any one thing, but he just seems to get the job done. In his two seasons as a pro, Williams has yet to miss a game and has 1,492 total yards and nine total touchdowns on 326 touches (4.6 yards per touch).

Entering his third year in the NFL, Williams just turned 24 years old and should play a vital role in new head coach Matt LaFleur’s heavy zone running scheme. But what makes Williams stand apart from his counterparts is his ability as a pass protector. Williams was easily the best pass-blocking running back on Green Bay’s roster in 2018, which is a key reason he saw the field on many third downs.

LaFleur already came out and stated his desire for a running back-by-committee approach earlier this offseason, so fans clamming for a breakout season should temper the expectations. It doesn’t seem unreasonable to expect Williams to receive anywhere from 8-12 touches per game this coming season.

Additionally, rookie sixth-rounder Dexter Williams should add nice depth into an already strong rotation of runners.
