Washington Redskins: 8-8

When taking into consideration that many predicted the Washington Redskins to finish at the bottom of the NFC East last season, the team deserves plenty of credit for finishing with a 7-9 record.

Not to mention, one can only imagine how different things could have been if it weren’t for Alex Smith suffering that devastating leg injury that is expected to keep him out for the entire 2019 season.

Believe it or not, Washington’s defense was considered one of the most underrated units in the league last season. Watching them land Landon Collins in free agency should take things to new levels for the unit to put them in better position to compete within the division.

Then again, if the Redskins end up going with Case Keenum as their quarterback under center, will the offense only continue to struggle like it did towards the end of last season?

In a way, it’s tough not to feel bad for Washington. Keenum was clearly a desperation decision since they didn’t have too many other options. Although, landing Dwayne Haskins in the draft could turn out to be a steal.

Depending on how the next few months go, maybe Jay Gruden will end up deciding to go with the rookie quarterback under center over Keenum, since Haskins seems to have a better shot a providing the necessary spark to the offense.

Even if the inexperience for Haskins seems like an issue, anything seems better than Keenum at this point if the Redskins really want to contend in the NFC.
