Chicago Bears: 5 Key players for a successful 2019 season
Allen Robinson, Wide Receiver
Allen Robinson was the Chicago Bears’ biggest free agent signing last offseason. He came in to reproduce his 1,400-yard, 14-touchdown season of 2016. While he had a decent season (754 yards, four touchdowns), he didn’t live up to the expectations of his contract (three years, $42 million).

To be fair, Robinson was coming off a torn ACL injury that cost him the 2017 season. In addition, he dealt with ribs and groin injuries that cost him three games.
In order for the offense to take a step up, Robinson needs to have a breakout season. I expect him to do just that. He spent the offseason without having to rehab any injury so he fully concentrated on the playbook. He feels that will help him greatly in 2019.
"For me a big difference (this year) is not being injured. Being able to come in and work on stuff that I want to work on."
There were more than a few times last season when Robinson and quarterback Mitch Trubisky were off, especially on deep throws. With a full offseason working together, they know each other better and can click together on the field. Some of those deep passes that could turn the fortunes of a game should happen, opening up the field for other players on the offense.
Robinson is already doing his part in the locker room. He’s been mentoring the other receivers. Now, though, he must do it on the field and lead the receivers corps into a new realm.
