3. Defense continues to play at high level

During the 2017 season in which the Bills emerged as a surprise playoff contender, their elite defense was the main reason behind the success since the offense wasn’t exactly the most consistent unit in the world.

One can only imagine how different things would have played out in that playoff game against Jacksonville if Buffalo’s offense played at a higher level, but at least the defense picked up where they left off for the most part in 2018.

Based off the previous two seasons, early signs point to the Bills having a top defense in the NFL once again during the 2019 season, and if this turns out to be the case, it will put the team in better position to earn another trip to the playoffs for the second time in three years.

Then again, a defense like Buffalo can only do so much on their own without the proper help from the other side of the football, meaning most of the pressure will be on the offense to come through on their end.

At least when it comes to the defense, the Bills should continue to feel confident over their unit being able to keep opposing offenses in check for the most part, as this will continue to be the team’s major strength.
