Once upon a time in a galaxy known as Anthony Lynn’s first season as head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, the team stumbled out of the gates and drop their first four games of 2017. It appeared that the club was simply picking up where it had left off, when the Bolts combined for a 9-23 mark over the previous two seasons combined.

But quarterback Philip Rivers and company began to click and he and the team finished 2017 on a strong note. The club won nine of its final 12 games and would wrap the year up with a 9-7 mark. And Lynn’s squad would carry that momentum into this past season.
While the Chargers did drop two of their first three contests (to the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams), the Bolts would finish 12-4 — the most victories by the franchise since winning the AFC West with a 13-3 mark in 2009.
All told, Lynn’s team owns an imposing 21-7 mark in their last 28 regular-season outings. Make it 22-8 if you include the Chargers’ postseason split with the Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots.
Perhaps the next thing on the team’s agenda is winning a division title for the first time since 2009. And this season will mark 25 years since the franchise made that lone Super Bowl appearance.
