Patrick Mahomes

Last year, there was not a player that scored more fantasy points than the second-year quarterback and the reigning MVP sensation, Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes dramatically changed the game of football with his ability to move the ball down the field with his rocket arm and incredible mobility behind the line. And, in doing so, he changed the way fantasy football owners should be thinking heading into draft day.

Whether you played in standard, half or full PPR leagues, the No. 1 scorer in all of fantasy football for 2018 Mahomes. Mahomes passed for 5,097 yards, tied for second all-time in NFL history in passing touchdowns in a single season with 50 and also ran for 272 yards and two touchdowns. This was just Mahomes first year of starting and has no sophomore slump to worry about.

To further understand the dominance of Mahomes in fantasy football, he scored a leading 417.1 points in total in 2018. That averages out to an incredible 26.1 points per game. His 417.1 points is a whole 62.1 higher than the next highest at the position, Matt Ryan. Some fans may be thinking that Mahomes can only decline, but his style of play in the offense of Andy Reid can only mean the sky’s the limit.

When Kareem Hunt was cut from the team, Mahomes went out and scored 33 points against the Oakland Raiders in Week 13. The only thing that may halt Mahomes from putting up record-breaking numbers once again is what happens to Tyreek Hill in regards to a suspension. With or without Hill, however, Mahomes should be the first quarterback off the board at the end of Round 2 or, more than likely, early Round 3.
