Quarterback: Jordan Love, Utah State

In order to run the ideal spread offense, we need a quick trigger at the quarterback position with the ability to hurt defenses with both his arms and legs.

More from NFL Spin Zone

So our first stop on this journey to build the perfect 2020 NFL Draft spread offense is to Logan, UT where we find our starting quarterback in Utah State’s Jordan Love. Blessed with elite size and arm strength, Love also possesses all the accuracy, athleticism and arm talent any NFL evaluator could dream about.

That aforementioned quick trigger is what sold me on this scheme match. Throwing screens, timing routes and zone read concept all call for a quick decision-maker at the quarterback position. Love has shown in his own offense at Utah State that he can be very advantageous in those decisions, seeming to always make the proper read.

It was a tough call between guys like Oregon’s Justin Herbert and Hawaii’s Cole McDonald, but I’m riding this Jordan Love hype train until the very end. He makes this list as my QB1 for a spread offense, a possible foreshadow for future endeavors.

Others considered: Justin Herbert (Oregon), D’Eriq King (Houston), Cole McDonald (Hawaii)
