5. Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Jameis Winston is arguably the highest variance quarterback in the NFL. The Tampa Bay Buccanneers signal-caller will have great throws, tossing 30-yard darts across the middle of the field perfectly. Of course, he will then have other plays in which he sails the ball over his receivers’ head and has it land right in a safety’s lap for an interception.

Not helping Winston’s cause entering a contract year is the fact that the quarterback’s off-field issues have not subsided. After experiencing several issues in college, a March 2016 incident in an Uber led to a three-game suspension at the start of last season.

Heading into the 2019 season, Winston is going to have his work cut out for him. In 2018 with the Buccaneers, Winston had an excellent supporting cast with the likes of Mike Evans, DeSean Jackson, O.J. Howard and Adam Humphries catching passes from him. After this offseason, though two of Winston’s biggest targets in Jackson and Humphries are now playing elsewhere in the NFL. That leaves him without two critical receiving weapons entering the 2019 season.

Winston is an extremely inconsistent quarterback and taking away two good options at wide receiver from him is not going to help him alleviate his problems he’s displayed to this point. The one positive for Winston is that he is still somewhat young. However, I still wouldn’t be shocked if the Buccaneers let Winston walk and decided to target a quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft.
