Baltimore Ravens: Breaking down the 2019 rushing attack
By Luke Parrish
The Starter: Mark Ingram
Mark Ingram is a human bowling ball with a diverse skill set. His eight-year career has seen him develop into a well-rounded running back with plenty of touches. After a slow start, Ingram has averaged 4.7 yards per carry over the last six seasons. He likely would have rushed for 1,000 yards last season if not for a four-game suspension for PEDs.

Instead, he finished the 2018 season with 645 rushing yards and six touchdowns. His Saints tenure ended with 6,007 yards rushing and 50 touchdowns overall. Ingram also hauled in 228 catches for 1,598 yards and five touchdowns in those six seasons.
After a nice stint with the Saints, Mark Ingram decided it was time for a change. He signed a three-year, $15 million deal with the Ravens back in March. Ingram will turn 30 years old before the end of the season, so time may be running out. However, he has been at his best over the last three seasons, which is a bit odd. He has stayed healthy and maintained a 4.9 yards per carry average since 2016.
While Ingram was central to New Orleans’ success, the emergence of Alvin Kamara was a blessing and a curse for his career. On one hand, the two took pressure off one another by keeping fresh legs in the game. On the other hand, Kamara became a household name almost immediately.
The Saints slowly shifted to focus their offense on Kamara while continuing to utilize the air attack. Now Ingram II steps into an offense that is fully prepared to run the ball. Connor Price of Pro Football Focus ranked Lamar Jackson and Mark Ingram as the second-best rushing tandem in the league.
