Most Valuable Player: Tremaine Edmunds, LB

This may be a bit of a surprise pick. People argue over the meaning of an MVP: Some suggest it refers to the best player, while others use it as a label for the most important player.

The Bills spent their second 2018 first-round pick on linebacker Tremaine Edmunds. His rookie season was exactly what the team expected. Edmunds led the team with 121 tackles, 80 of which were solo. He also racked up 12 pass deflections and seven quarterback hits. In 15 games, Edmunds intercepted two passes and forced two fumbles, along with recording two sacks. His versatility was huge for the Bills.

Edmunds stepped in from the start and led a defense. Now he is expected to take another step forward and keep that defense atop the league. Despite high expectations, there is no reason to believe Edmunds cannot live up to the hype. The defense has talent around him and the addition of Ed Oliver up front will open things up at the second level. Still, the impact of Edmunds will be felt all over the field.

Having a linebacker that can alter every aspect of the game is crucial. His range from sideline to sideline is his calling card. Edmunds is arguably the most important player on the roster heading into 2019. Defensive players may not be MVPs of the entire league but there are plenty on NFL rosters.
