2. Defense continues to be a top unit

Without a doubt, Nagy had a major advantage coming on board as head coach last season since the Bears’ defense showed all sorts of potential the year before in regards to becoming a top unit in the league.

From holding a high-powered offense in the Los Angeles Rams to scoring just six points during the regular season to holding the Eagles to 16 points in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs, Chicago showed on numerous occasions just how strong their defense could be last season.

As for whether that high level of play will carry over into 2019, well why wouldn’t it when looking at all of the player returning for the Bears?

In fact, if last year is any indication over what Chicago could have in store on defense, there’s a good chance this unit will be one of the best in the league once again in 2019.

Even if the argument can be made that teams like Minnesota and Green Bay will be motivated more than ever to prevent Chicago from winning the division title for a second year in a row, the Bears certainly aren’t going to make it easy.

Deep down, the Bears realize how big of a role their defense will play in repeating as division champions, and assuming they do pick up right where they left off in 2019, a run at the Super Bowl could very well happen.
