3. Miami Dolphins

Arguably the worst team in the NFL on paper entering 2019, the Miami Dolphins need a play maker or two on offense to help sell tickets. After trading for quarterback Josh Rosen from the Arizona Cardinals during the 2019 NFL Draft, the Dolphins could be looking to add a workhorse running back to serve as a safety valve to grow with their young quarterback.

More from NFL Spin Zone

Current starting running back Kenyan Drake showed plenty of flash last season, but many see him more as a change of pace back than an every-down runner. Drake has never had more than 644 rushing yards in a season in his three years as a pro, but the talent is clearly there.

Behind Drake is Kalen Ballage, a rookie in 2018 who had little impact but saw action in 12 games nonetheless. Myles Gaskin, a rookie undrafted free agent, sits behind Ballage on the depth chart and should serve primarily as a third-down receiving back provided he makes the final roster.

Adding Melvin Gordon to the team would help the development of Rosen and give Dolphins fans something to be excited about in 2019.

It’s unlikely this trade would happen, but Miami has plenty of cap space to spend and has a lack of playmakers on the current roster.
