Mack Hollins had an injury-ridden season in 2018 with the Philadelphia Eagles. Now he’s looking to come back and have a great year in 2019.

The Philadelphia Eagles have better talent at wide receiver than they did in 2018. Last season, the Eagles primary receivers were riddled with injuries either before the year began or early in the schedule. Alshon Jeffery was nursing a shoulder injury, Mike Wallace went down early in the year and young receivers like Mack Hollins never played a snap in the 2018 regular season.

Hollins still wasn’t part of the Eagles’ offseason program in 2019 as he is still recovering from sports hernia surgery.

Last year, the Eagles didn’t have the deep options among their pass-catchers they did when they won the Super Bowl in 2017. Players like Torrey Smith were crucial for the team to move the ball down the field for the Eagles in 2017 but they lacked a deep threat or the depth to sustain drives and win games early in the 2018 season.

Coming into 2019, though, things are completely different. Jeffery is returning, Howie Roseman went out and got DeSean Jackson, Nelson Agholor is returning as well and the Eagles drafted JJ Arcega-Whiteside.

Jeffery is their go-to receiver for a big catch or to move the chains. Jackson will be the deep threat, even in his 11th NFL season. Agholor helps the chains move and gives Carson Wentz a valuable weapon out of the slot. Arcega-Whiteside is a good leaper and will be gold in the redzone.

With all that said, where will Hollins fit in this offense?

Hollins played in all 16 games during the Super Bowl run and scored a 64-yard touchdown for his only score of the season. He also played 231 special teams snaps in 2017, where he will be instrumental again this season. However, he is also another weapon for the offense and showed flashes of being a deep threat.

The Eagles learned the value of wide receiver depth last season, which increases the value of Hollins further. Yes, players such as Braxton Miller and Greg Ward are in tow and Shelton Gibson is also returning.

Hollins will still make the team though given what he brings to the table. His versatility as both a receiving weapon and special teams ace is crucial for this roster. Furthermore, the Eagles are more than likely to keep six receivers on the 53-man roster after last year’s injury woes. Philadelphia may host the best roster in the league, but a healthy Hollins only gives them even more juice.
