3. Case Keenum, Washington Redskins

Case Keenum is now on his third team in as many years as he joins the Washington Redskins. Keenum was dealt to Washington by the Denver Broncos as the latter team made way for Joe Flacco to take over at quarterback.

Keenum occupies the No. 3 position in these rankings not because he’s a bad player, but because he’s hardly great. He is solid in most aspects of the game, displaying relatively solid accuracy and showing solid presence in the pocket. Where he struggles, though, is with his arm strength. Occasionally, Keenum will struggle making tight-window throws due to not having the arm strength to fit balls into those areas.

Even though Keenum just arrived with the Redskins — and though he may be a decent enough option, he may not be long for the starting job.

In the 2019 NFL Draft, Washington selected Dwayne Haskins, who many people considered the second best quarterback in the draft behind Kyler Murray. Haskins had a monster lone season as the starter for Ohio State and has the tools to develop into an NFL starter.

Keenum gives Washington some time to let Haskins develop as their quarterback of the future. There will come a time though when Haskins will be knocking on the door of the starting job, though. At that point, Keenum will likely not have a case to hold off the other newcomer as he doesn’t bring the Redskins elite play.
