2. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

Dak Prescott’s contract situation has been a major storyline coming into the 2019 NFL season. The problem for Prescott is he has not given the Cowboys any elite play from the quarterback position. However, the franchise is still left in a difficult position where they don’t know for sure if the quarterback is worth the money he’s looking for in a new deal.

Prescott has been good but rarely great with the Cowboys. The Mississippi State product often makes the right reads and throws good balls. He is also agile and quick enough to make plays happen outside the pocket and pick up yards with his legs.

Despite the positives, Prescott has struggled with making passes into tight windows. He has been good against zone coverage but when teams play press coverage against receivers, and force him to make hard throws, he often struggles.

The addition of Amari Cooper last year helped Prescott significantly, but it also threw another wrench into the questions for the future of the team. Cooper, along with Ezekiel Elliott, is looking for a new contract as well. That puts the Cowboys in a position where they’ll be looking to commit a ton of money to key pieces.

Prescott isn’t an elite quarterback, but he is a player that can win games in the NFL. However, a player like him cannot win games solely on his own. He needs the right pieces surrounding him. That makes the financial situation around him and the Cowboys all the more interesting heading into the 2019 season.
