Corey Liuget

The longtime Los Angeles Chargers’ defensive tackle Corey Liuget is still on the market as well. Him and Wilkerson are the cream of the crop left on the open market, so the Browns would be wise to start negotiations with one or both of them yesterday.

Last season was the first year that Liuget has not had over 10 starts in his career, starting three of six games he appeared in. In those six games he appeared in last year, Liuget tallied a sack and a half, five tackles for loss, and five hits on the quarterback.

Throughout his career, Liuget has recorded 24 total sacks in eight seasons, which is great considering he is a gap eater along the defensive front and often drawing double teams. Additionally, Liuget has tallied 59 total tackles for loss and hit opposing quarterbacks 53 times.

Liuget would make a solid nose tackle in 3-4 packages, although they run a 4-3 base under new defensive coordinator Steve Wilks. He has reps playing in a 4-3 scheme as recent as under the current scheme in Los Angeles, and would make a great rotational player whenever starters Ogunjobi and Sheldon Richardson need to come off the field.
