4. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

When it comes to quarterback skill and talent, there is no one better than Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers. From his improvisation when a play collapses to his immaculate arm strength, few can do what Rodgers does, especially in close-game situations. Rodgers will be looking to get the Packers back to familiar territory in 2019 — the playoffs. Hopefully, Rodgers will get a little more help from other areas of the team, specifically the defense.

Rodgers was sensational once again in 2018, despite the mediocre season the Packers had as a whole. He was ranked sixth in passing yards with 4,442 and had 25 touchdowns and only two interceptions last year. Those two picks were the lowest in the league and he had an interception rate of 0.3 percent. Rodgers’ pinpoint passes and Hail Mary heaves are things of beauty and that what separates him from the rest of the NFL’s quarterbacks.

Rodgers’ leadership seemed to take a hit last year with all the drama surrounding him and former head coach Mike McCarthy. That drama played a factor in McCarthy’s firing, as it was reported that Rodgers overruled his play calls and called audibles at the line of scrimmage. Rodgers did seem to play frustrated at times during last season but he still made sure he gave Green Bay the best chance to win.

Now with new head coach Matt LaFleur, Rodgers will have to learn a new offensive scheme, which means new checks, audibles, playbooks and lingo. He will also have to trust his new coach and hope that he is making the right calls. This will be a lot for Rodgers, as it is publicly known he wants a head coach that challenges his thinking and understand football just as much as he does.

The new offense has the opportunity to reinvigorate Rodgers, too. Sometimes, change is needed and, with star receiver Devante Adams at his side, Rodgers is sure to put up great numbers.

The Packers did lose Randall Cobb in free agency, though, so he will need to find a target (or targets) to compensate for that lost production. Green Bay’s defense has also been upgraded at many spots, so Rodgers can play a little more relaxed. He doesn’t feel like he has to force things just to keep his team in the game.

A new coach and new offense could lead to a big season for Aaron Rodgers. It’s like a breath of fresh air in a sense and Rodgers needs to be open to everything new about the Packers this season. If he can put trust in Lafleur, his play calling capabilities and the offensive scheme, there is no reason why Rodgers can’t have another amazing year in Green Bay.
