5. Tom Brady, New England Patriots

It seems like nothing has slowed down Tom Brady, not even undefeated Father Time. Coming off his sixth Super Bowl victory, there should be no reason why Brady can’t keep up his stellar play coming into the 2019 season.

Looking at his Instagram, he seems to be working even harder to make sure he is fully prepared for his 20th season. One should never doubt Brady and Belichick, as they have proved doubters wrong time and again.

Brady ranked seventh in passing yards (4,355), 10th in passing touchdowns (29) and had the sixth-best QBR in the NFL last season. He did all of that at 41 years old, which is almost unheard of for an NFL quarterback. Brady has yet to hit that “cliff” Max Kellerman was talking about years ago as he is still picking apart opposing defenses with ease.

This will be a year of adjustment for Brady, however, as he won’t have his longtime security blanket at tight end after Rob Gronkowski retired. He will still have reliable unicorn, Julian Edelman, to throw the ball to, along with rookie N’Keal Harry. Harry provides Brady a big body and a deep threat down the field, something Brady hasn’t had in a few years, at least consistently.

Brady has had to perform with not that much of a supporting cast at the receiver spot before, so this is familiar territory. Despite that, he still finds a way to pick apart opposing defenses with his mind more than his arm, adjusting plays at the line and putting his receivers in the right spots at the right time. Even with his body aging (allegedly), his mind is still getting sharper and that should strike fear in opposing defenses.

With nothing changing that much when it comes to the offensive playbook, Brady will be able to get back in the swing of things quicker than some quarterbacks coming into the season. That consistency will give Brady the chance to help out his skill players more and get them on the same page as him.

Brady is expected to remain consistent and perform at a high level but he will have to be more patient and begin to trust his somewhat new receiving core at the start of the season. It might be a rocky start, but Brady will still get back to his normal self as the season wears on.

With he and the New England Patriots embarking on yet another title defense, Brady should come into the season reinvigorated and ready to troll the doubters with his play — and his social media posts.
