4 Reasons Kansas City Chiefs should trade for Melvin Gordon

Need for a better running back
In 2018, the Chiefs proved that they can survive with someone like Damien Williams as their starting running back. But can Kansas City have a top-notch rushing attack this season with Williams as the top guy on their depth chart?

Since entering the NFL in 2014, the 27-year old running back has only started in a total of seven games and three of them came last year. Williams has also never carried the ball more than 50 times or gained over 260 rushing yards in a single season during his time in the league.
Also competing for carries in the Chiefs offensive backfield this year is Carlos Hyde. After he was selected in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers, Hyde has never really evolved into a true No. 1 running back like some believed he could have been coming out of Ohio State.
So yes, Kansas City can still get by with the offensive backfield they currently have. But if they have the chance to acquire a player like Melvin Gordon, it’s not something they should be passing up.
Gordon is one of only two NFL running backs to score at least 35 touchdowns in the last three seasons. For a team like the Chiefs, who finished first in points per game last year, landing the current Chargers rusher seems like a no-brainer.
