3. Tony Brown, CB

With cornerbacks Josh Jackson (foot) and Kevin King (hamstring) each nursing an injury, Tony Brown could be in line for a huge opportunity on Thursday night against the Texans. Jackson has been on the non-football injury list since the beginning of training camp, while King picked up a hamstring injury during the team’s Family Night practice on Friday.

Brown has garnered first-team reps at corner with King and Jackson being out, which has provided ample opportunity for the second-year undrafted free agent.

Carrying over his success from Family Night, which included a pick-six on backup quarterback DeShone Kizer during 11-on-11, Brown was the other starting outside cornerback in the team’s nickel package during this week’s practices. Jaire Alexander was the other outside corner, while Tramon Williams manned the slot.

Brown has made impressive plays all throughout camp, but a he’ll need to prove himself against the Texans on Thursday. Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst praised Brown for his toughness, confidence and ability to forget a bad play during Monday’s presser, so it’s clear the team already has extreme confidence in his abilities.

Who knows, if Brown impresses during Thursday’s preseason matchup versus the Texans, maybe he could steal reps from Jackson and King when both return from injury.
